one of my favorite things is looking at Azzi Fudd's shot map for the third quarter of Iowa because she didn't miss a shot in that quarter and her midrange game is actually more my favorite than just her shooting threes.
https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/game/_/gameId/401483567/uconn-iowa
also lowkey love looking at baylor third quarter when her and Aubrey took over. cannot wait for them to be back together on the court.
https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/game/_/gameId/401528008/baylor-uconn
And I wish we had texas shot maps for that second half and like that marquette game when she went off, etc.
The second half adjustment Azzi makes is always lethal. An actual silent assassin.
I also want like a full shot map of her career one day kind of like what we see for Steph, but like first half vs second half.
i love watching that iowa game. the way she just took control and just kept shooting. three pointers and layups are obviously the most efficient shots, but having that mid range really opens up everything else. we see how some players can struggle to create space because they can't score on all three levels like that. and 0 turnovers that game too
aubrey is so underrated, man. she just does everything you want on the court

Unless you're a brand new player, precons suck.
"Upgraded precon" can mean anything from "I added some better lands" to "barely resembles the starting precon." It's not a useful measure of power.
EDHrec lets people turn off their brains and play the statistically most common cards for a commander. That sucks, and also the data from their decklist will then be routed back into EDHrec, further enforcing those cards as The Cards To Play with that commander.
Meta is hard to pin down but it's basically a generic mid-range valuepile. Sometimes it's around a mechanic, sometimes it's around a subtype. Either way it's pretty lame. One of my fav decks is an animar hydraball and it's a midrange valuepile and it's a ton of fun to play. But I've learned so much about the game while trying to make jankier decks.
Infinite combos are whack. Two card and three card infinites make me want to tear my hair out, and this is coming from the bitch with a three card infinite in her goblin deck. I took the infinites out of the rest of my decks because they're not fun. It was way funnier when my goblin deck popped off in a non-infinite and made 68 million goblins (we had to pull out a calculator) than when it goes infinite and I pick an arbitrarily large number.
Fuck dragons. They're such an over supported archetype. Yeah they're iconic fantasy creatures but get fucking real, does every set have to have some crazy overpowered dragon card? Do we need entire sets dedicated to dragons? (Looking at you Tarkir.) Do we need to revisit the planes from sets dedicated to dragons? (Looking at you again Tarkir.)
I think decorated sleeves are pretty cringe, but ai art makes it so much worse. God they looked like shit.
Atraxa is so fucking powerful. But the issue is that she's generically powerful. She's keyword soup with an endstep proliferate trigger stapled on. And she's only a four drop!
I put lots of removal and lots of interaction in my decks because I like to be able to have a say in what happens at the table. Someone's popping off? Not on this turn. You're going to swing for lethal? Not if I have anything to say about it. So many people but three boardwipes in their decks and call it a day. And yeah Austere Command is good, but I can still counterspell that shit. Maybe I'm just a scummy temur player but damn, there are so many options for this shit that people just don't use. Play simic charm, it's good. Imagine a buff spell that is also protection that is also removal and it's a two drop. The charms are busted and are really flexible, if you're playing multicolor you should be running them.
Mono white decks are fucking boring. Maybe it's the two guys at my local group that play them, but the color just seems so bland. It's honestly frustrating because I want to like the color. But I just don't. It's only redeeming factor is catch up ramp, and I like using that to manafraud my way to victory. (I had to take it out of my Falco Spara deck, but I'm going all in on manafraud for my Cayth deck because it doesn't have green.)
The assassins creed set just sucked. You don't really see cards from it used because most of them are kinda mid.
Thunder Junction is honestly just a crazy racist set specifically because they tried really hard to not be racist. It's funny. There's a spice8rack video about it that's quite good. I think Bristly Bill should get a planeswalker spark. He's a single dad and loves his kids, give me more of him.
Fuck precons, fuck upgraded precons, fuck the people who make their decks with edhrec exclusively, fuck the meta, fuck infinite combos, fuck dragons, fuck my friend who bought sleeves with ai generated art, fuck Atraxa, fuck people who don’t play enough removal and interaction and then bitch when you do things and they can’t deal with it, fuck mono white decks, fuck the assassins creed set, and fuck the bullshit terra nullius colonialist fantasy of Thunder Junction.
Me? I’m tight as fuck!

@elysiumxii
     to be very clear, farrah would be a proud and insistent passenger princess if she wasn’t addicted to speeding into any and every destination in her pink ferrari. it’s not that she doesn’t want her buff, beautiful, perfect boyfriend to drive her car, it’s just that she doesn’t want him to drive her car. they’re currently parked (white lines be damned) outside of the restaurant farrah oh so generously guided amree through making reservations at. fancier than their usual destination of midrange chain franchises, the assassin makes sure to touch up her lipgloss before stepping out.
      halfway between smacking her plush lips to disperse the sticky gloss, it happens.
     there’s a girl walking back to her car. utterly unremarkable, in farrah’s opinion. she probably hasn’t had her nails done in months, and her roots are grown out, so why does amree look over at her? why are his eyes not properly trained on the love of his life? farrah is obsessed with amree. would die for him over and over again. would kill for him. has killed for him. they were going to get married and live in a pink dreamhouse so why was he looking at her?
     “are you fucking serious?” the dhampir’s voice is pitchy and on the edge of a squeak: a clear indication that she’s pissed. the tube of lipgloss is promptly chucked in his direction, and it’s one of those times that farrah should be grateful that he’s as human as she is (another sign of their twin flame status!), because that lipgloss would have killed a man half as sturdy. “we’re literally on a super romantic date and you can’t even keep your eyes off some stupid slut.”

Item bag from Vioya?
Mana Reavers-
An all in one weapon for Tomekeeper assassins as it works as a close and midrange weapon, grappling hook, and a focus for magic
It comes in three main parts, the gauntlets that cover the entirety of the forearm, the spool of wire that wraps around the gauntlet in the mid-forearm location, and the curved, sickle-daggers that are attached to the wires by their pommels.
When they were active the sight of the curved silver blades were the boogeymen to mages both good and evil as with a small cut these blades could disrupt the flow of mana in their bodies and thus these blades earned the Tomekeeper assassins their other name, the Magekillers.

Quick Thoughts of Strive Beta
Messed around on the beta for about 3 hours between last night and this morning and just wanted to give my thoughts on it so far.
General Things
For those wanting to download the Beta I believe you have to go onto the PSN website itself and search it up. It took all of yesterday to realize this and I’m still mad no instructions actually said this... I pre-order this game dammit.
From what I’ve played the netcode is very good. I think there were only 2 moments the game wouldn’t let me connect with someone. All of my games have been smooth so far with little if any lag.
The look, aesthetics, and animations all look very nice and are done very well. The action feels very fast-paced and bombastic. The explosion and fire effects are stellar and give some very nice feedback to your stronger attacks. Heavier counters have a nice zoom and slow down effect for maximum impact. This game wants to really sell you on that hype dear Lord am I buying it.
I know I was negative on the music of Strive in my last essay, but hearing it within the game itself has me warming up to it. On its own the songs feel a little out of place, but now that I’ve got the game’s beta in my hand and started playing it the music works. It kind of like moving and fighting along to a rock album. I’ve got a particular fondness for Giovanna’s theme now. The chill vibes I get from her theme combined with her personality sell me on her character a bit more now.
General Gameplay Things
I know the devs were saying that they wanted to make this game simpler, or at least more approached, but boy is this game a little more bare compared to Rev2. Just to give a quick rundown, you can only cancel Slash into Heavy Slash, Punch and Kick are more poking tools that can’t cancel into much aside from Specials, but you can also mash out 3 Punches in a row. Punch cannot be canceled into Kick, Slash, or Heavy Slash, nor can Kick cancel into Punch, Slash, or Heavy Slash unless in a Dust combo, not with the characters I was using at least (Ram, Zato, Chip, and Gio).
However, this is offset by the HUGE damage Slash and Heavy Slash can do, especially if you combo it properly with specials. Ram in particular has some evil stuff she can do with her Dauro loops. It’s a bit more like a more combo-based SamSho where you can be dead in just three or four short combos... just... without the teeth-grinding slowness of Samsho.
I’m a bit torn on this. While I think this kind of gameplay actually works pretty well for what it is, it’s such a different approach to Rev2 and even Accent Core Plus that I wouldn’t blame folks for being dismissive of it. There could be an honest argument for this being flash over substance given the lack of complexity on the surface. Not one I would make given my mixed opinion of Guilty Gear as a whole, but I could see that argument being made.
I think having Throw be 4/6D was probably the smartest move in this game. Now we don’t have to worry about having our 4/6HS command normals accidentally turn into throws and ruin a potential combo.
“Allen, why would you use 4/6HS up close raw? It’s typically very unsafe and can make you eat tons of damage.”
Hey... shut up.
Speaking of Dust, if it wasn’t a universal overhead before, making it one now gives it a lot more utility.
Ramlethal Things
I played mostly with Ram in my three hours with the game, so I’ve got the best grasp on how she plays out of the other three characters I messed with.
Ram’s very different from her Rev2 days. She no long has her Tekken-esque combos and a lot of her gameplay is now even more focused around her swords. She’d best at midrange, but can do a few things from close up and far away.
I don’t really like how you can’t call your swords back, but given the damage output when she has them equipped I think it’s a fair enough trade off.
Her Dauro loops are still a thing and boy can you do some mean things with them.
I don’t really like how a lot of her combos feels like they need a sweep or 2HS to do real damage, this is apparently the case for a lot of characters, but with Ram... I dunno’, I haven’t play around with her enough to be sure but it just feels kinda’ weird.
Mortobato is actually a pretty nice super in terms of utility, but I really miss having Explode. It was the coolest looking super in Ram’s kit back in Xrd.
Her new rekka special is pretty sweet, makes for a nice combo ender after a sweep.
Giovanna Things
I think this is the character I’m going to main in earnest. Ram is fun, but I can actually win matches with Giovanna with some competency since her damage is constant unlike Ram who needs her swords.
Like Chipp, she’s a rushdown character, but with less tools for mobility and is more about nailing people hard and fast with her kicks and staying close with her surprisingly far-reaching specials that can close the gap, at least that’s what I got from her after a few runs in training mode.
Her 6HS rekka looks really cool and I wish I could combo into better.
Apparently she turns all green and gets possessed by her ghost dog when she’s a max Tension, but the game doesn’t explain anything about this.I’m curious, but also annoyed that what looks like a gameplay function is hidden for the beta players. I understand wanting to keep things a surprise, but I’d rather that part of her be removed if it isn’t going to be discussed.
I heard a lot of talk about Giovanna being un-Guilty Gear and boring as a character. I’ve got a lot of negative opinions about these people, but I’ll at least say that after playing her I don’t believe this to be the case. She admitted has few tools, but her playstyle, animations, and character do feel like a Guilty Gear character. Her simplicity is what makes her stand out among all the nuttiness of Guilty Gear.
Think of it this way, a snarky, deadpanned, straightforward government worker being forced to deal with half-dragon bounty hunters and kings, assassins, sky pirates, ninja presidents, and Faust with only basic martial arts and a ghost dog to keep her on equal footing with the monsters of the cast stands out a lot more if she was quirky. She seems to be the straight man to all the craziness and I think she’ll have a lot of comedic moments with the cast if down well.
Zato Things
THE TRAILERS FUCKING LIED TO ME THIS IS STILL ZATO -FUCKING- 1
To keep this simple and to keep me from raging, Zato and Eddie still attack in tandem outside of the player’s influence. 5K with Zato will still make Eddie do ”That’s A Lot!”. Doing 5S will still have Eddie do Leap. This is gonna’ need an actual essay to explain in detail, but basically, Eddie is unwieldy in his movement speed and positioning, so properly doing combos with him is very difficult due to how hard it is to position him in your favor.
To be fair, Eddie can only do about two attacks when he’s summoned, and his animations are much clearer to read and react off of for both you and your opponent, but... it feels like all the playing Relius Clover if Ignis moved without your full input. Again, more detail in a proper essay.
Outside of that, you can actually do some really dirty stuff with Zato with you time things right. They did try to simplify Eddie but... it’s stil Zato-1 man.
Lobby Things
Yeah... this lobby kind of sucks. The aesthetic just looks very cheap compared to how nice the game looks. The blocky avatars don’t have the charming cuteness of Xrd’s avatar designs, and while I do think the method of getting matches is pretty simple, the overall way you do it feels sluggish and unneeded. I really wish Japanese fighting game developers didn’t try to make the lobbies as... immersive as they try to. This stuff peaked with Continuum Shift lobbies and have honestly gone downhill since then.
Overall, I’ve been liking what I’ve played of the beta, but I’m gonna’ need another day or two with it before having a full opinion. But so far so good, I’ve been either liking or appreciating most of the changes and things made, barring a few nitpicks and actual problems.

Pop Culture Commentary
Tumblr media
Thank you all for your contributions this week! I’m really proud with the way that people took from a variety of shows, books, movies and video games. Fun contests like this are interesting because I gotta let my guard down and not take things so seriously.
With that in mind, here we go!
Tumblr media
@ace-hobo — Rouse the Oathbreakers
Great rare tribal card. I like how it’s fairly low-cost and is a flavor win plus a really fun niche tribal build-around. When you’re reanimating, use “return,” see Angel of Glory’s Rise. Additionally, if you’re using MSE, shift+enter will allow you to put the attribution underneath the quote.
Tumblr media
@cas-420 — Left for Dead
As a spell by itself, I like how powerful it is. However, I’m not sure I understand the name as it relates to the card; I know you wanted a connection with the game, but I feel that the connection is tentative. “Last Stand” or something would have been more appropriate. I don’t think you need “All” in that second ability, and you can just steal Angel’s Grace wording for the other part. Fun Orzhov card!
Tumblr media
@dabudder — The Heart of Etheria
I love this card. It tells a story about legendary creatures, it tells a story about sacrifice, and it’s, no pun intended, heartbreaking. “Heart” in “Heart counters” doesn’t need to be capitalized, but “return” does. I feel that for storytelling it could also work better if the trigger happened at the beginning of your end step.
Tumblr media
@dimestoretajic — Shepard’s Charm
This is a weird build-around-me. I think that despite the gameplay being a little weird to say the least, you use colorless mana effectively to show artifacts as machines of their own in this world. You were right about missing “token.” It happens, no biggie. I have the feeling that running multiple copies of this is a bit much, considering the strength of “gain control of all permanents” that would eventually happen. Oh, God, copying this...
Tumblr media
@donutwraith — Unorthodox Summon
I’m afraid without context, I don’t understand this card at all. What is “sem?” What clearance? Also, why “Gentle Giant?” I know it makes sense flavorfully, perhaps, but it’s weird as an actual card type. Zero mana flash enchantments are... Dangerous, mechanically. I can’t think of any ways that it would be broken off the top of my head, but I can think of several players who’d be chomping at the bit to play it.
Tumblr media
@emmypupcake — Louisoix’s Final Sealing
Great flavor. Cool moment. Very overcosted. Six mana for a narrow removal spell like this... Well, I’d rather run a board-wipe or simply a two-mana card that does the exact same thing. For such a high cost and with the legendary restriction, in the future consider other cards and their impact that they have for that mana, then see what other powerful effect you could add.
Tumblr media
@fractured-infinity — Preservation // Ruin // Harmony
Are these the names of actual characters and events in the book? Not sure how to feel about that. I like how Harmony can be “destroyed” by your opponents chipping away at their own resources. Watch out for run-on sentences in “Ruin” with that first ability. Without the book context, I think the names are kinda banal, but that’s just me being a pretentious douche canoe. I’m sure that the books make them more effective.
Tumblr media
Genex-P — Soylent Green is People
Great flavor connection! Remember that the quote attribution needs to go on a different line, and that when making Food tokens they have reminder text instead of rules text, see Bake into a Pie. Also, remember, a COMMA after the G, and exile a human CARD. Gotta be specific about these things!
Tumblr media
@ghost31415926535 — Siege of the White Lotus
Really interesting enchantment! I love how it rewards multicolor strategies and turns all your stuff into the Avatar in their own special way. Flavorfully, it’s been a while since I’ve watched AtlA but there are other people who can tell me whether or not this checks out. I’m a fan of the card in general. Just remember proper capitalization and punctuation. There may be an easier way of wording this all too, but I like how it reads.
Tumblr media
@gollumni — Imperfect Clone
Darnit, Brian. Bryan? Whatevers. I love this flavor, especially in context. I’m thinking of different ways to word it. “Until end of turn, target creature you control has the same base power and toughness as target creature you don’t control.” IDK, this card’s fun.
Tumblr media
@greensunzenith — The Culling of Straholme
I love this card, and the only thing that bugs me, the ONLY thing, is that I didn’t know if that first ability “works.” Aether Storm shows that it does, and I should have done more research. Call this one an honorary runner-up. It tells a fantastic story about the option of destruction followed by the inevitable turning. Man, yeah, whoever’s reading this, this card’s getting added to the runner’s up. It was a really tough series of choices this week.
Tumblr media
@haru-n-harkel — Passing of the Matrix
What an interesting card! I’m not sure what the Matrix is, but this card lets me show that it’s a mark of leadership, that it makes a creature legendary flavorfully, and that it’s not resigned to one generation. Not bad! You don’t need “target” in the first line, and don’t forget that when you do a quote, the name goes on a separate line.
Tumblr media
@hypexion — The Turning
Pretty sure there should be an emdash between 8 and WW, but I forget. Anyway, funky little card you got here. I’m not sure why it doesn’t have a mana cost flavorfully, but I get how it works mechanically. Good on you for the wording of the activated ability. I’m not sure how something “turning” begets the flavor of destruction, though? Also, yadda yadda quoter second line, you’ve heard me say it thrice up there.
Tumblr media
@ignorantturtlegaming — Yoshi’s Adventure
Well if this ain’t a flavor win if I ever saw one! Dinos, eggs, and humans. Really funky stuff. Three wording things. One: The second ability should be something more like “Whenever a Human you control dies, sacrifice ~.” Two: You don’t need to “Sacrifice an Egg you control,” just “Sacrifice an Egg.” Three: It should be “”This creature deals 2 damage to any target.”” instead of just “deal.” Other than that, great first submission.
Tumblr media
@illharg-the-rave-boar — Shutdown
Ah, sci-fi. One day we’ll get there in Magic. Anyway, this card! I think that you could have stapled the “End the turn” line to the previous one, but aside from that, I think this card is super cool, a good mythic for this day and age. Pretty fun in a midrange-control build. I know nothing about the game, but I like the feeling of a forced shutdown that you present. Probably the best example of the genre we could ask for.
Tumblr media
@juggernaut-is-a-metalhead — Blood and Thunder
This is a weird heckin’ card. The name and flavor text feel really disconnected from the abilities, though, which is a shame because mechanically this is an insane card that could be very fun in the right deck. The flavor the abilities present of “the world is breaking around me but with enough power I turn into a leviathan” is really awesome.
Tumblr media
@kavinika — Sadeas’s Betrayal
Let’s look at the card Sudden Disappearance. With that, I believe this spell could read “Exile all creatures you control.  Return the exiled cards to the battlefield under their owner's control at the beginning of the next end step. Then, destroy all creatures attacking a player or permanent other than you.” You don’t necessarily need the combat clause, but I understand how it could be useful to prevent just blinking. Maybe if it destroyed any number of target  attacking creatures?
Tumblr media
@koth-of-the-hammerpants — Holistic Assassination
9/10, but 1. Enchantments don’t tap, and 2. This feels like it would be very easy to abuse without a higher cost for returning it. Flavor’s interesting, card plays great, it’s a pain in the butt. Very fun.
Tumblr media
@mistershinyobject — Zulf’s Fate
Once again, you return creature cards from the graveyard to the battlefield. Wording aside, I really like the dichotomy of this card. It’s a gristly fate that you presented quite well. There’s not a lot to say because the card speaks for itself, and that’s a strength.
Tumblr media
@misterstingyjack — Shared Demise
I don’t really like the wording on this, as interesting as the concept is. I feel like it’s a bit much for one chunk of text. Maybe “fate counters” could work here? Like, when ~ enters the battlefield, put a fate counter on target creature, whenever a creature with a fate counter leaves the battlefield sacrifice enchanted creature, and when enchanted creature leaves the battlefield the fate counter creatures are sacrificed? I hope that makes sense. It’s hard to feel “clean” with the wording you have here.
Tumblr media
@nine-effing-hells — Hydraulic Salvation
Neat little name! I don’t think you need to add “if you do” to that second mode. And on a card like this, I wouldn’t add the flavor text. I really don’t think it’s strong enough to add anything to this card. Flavorful use of Miracle, though.
Tumblr media
@piecesofliquid — Tragic Reunion
This is a really cool card. Wording seems a little off, but you used flavor effectively to bring back two dueling characters. “You and target opponent each return up to one creature card from your graveyards to the battlefield. Those creatures gain vigilance, haste, and “etc.”” Great use of dual flavor text, even though I can’t quite tell who’s saying what. I don’t watch the show, thpt.
Tumblr media
@shakeszx — I Am Iron Man
I really like how we got two Iron Man submissions next to each other, lol. Two things: It should be “tap an UNTAPPED non-Legendary creature you control,” and you need a shuffle clause at the end of the whole thing. Great idea, funky flavor. Feels more like citizens summoning a legend, but I like the notion anyway. It’s very marvel. Could be RW.
Tumblr media
@shootingstarhunter — Inevitable Ultimatum
Having watched the movie, this card would have made more sense if it was an additional cost to sacrifice the legendary creature and it just destroyed all nonland permanents you didn’t control. Also, the flavor text should be in quotes. Aside from that, I really love this card. It’s an ultimatum that feels like an ultimatum. It’s appropriately costed and at the right rarity. So there we go!
Tumblr media
@snugz — Good King Moggle Mog XII
What a name. This is a frustrating and flavorfully annoying boss card that I can imagine an AI playing as kind of an Arena boss fight. Fourteen power for eight mana is... Well, it’s not the craziest thing Magic’s done in the past, but the fact that it repeats, man. 10/10 for cute and game capture feel.
Tumblr media
@sorustyitshines — The World Eater’s Ascent
I get that it’s an epic card, but “can’t be countered” isn’t really in the BW pie. Regardless, it’s a powerful boardwipe that, uh, doesn’t destroy enchantments for some reason? Not sure why, maybe it’s an in-game thing. Anyway, fine Commander card, good Evil Rise kinda thing. Overall interesting, but not my favorite in terms of execution.
Tumblr media
@starch255 — Enter Star Wolf
“For each of them, create a token that’s a copy of that card, except...” I think is the right wording. At least that’s how I grok it. Funky little card! I love how you used black Vehicles to create the evil spaceship feel. It’s a good sci-fi trope to have vehicles. The “four” is also a nice touch.
Tumblr media
@teaxch — Claudius’s Plan
Now ain’t this tragic. Interesting card! I like how it only lasts for a turn, giving your opponent one turn to have the deathtouch brigade. Not sure exactly how a poisoned chalice gives EVERYTHING deathtouch, but what the hell, it’s Shakespearian, everything’s tragic, right? I think this card is pretty cool, would make limited fun.
Tumblr media
@thegreateyebrows — Khert Fire
Hm, that might have to be a replacement ability. “If a spell or ability would target a permanent or player, that spell targets a permanent or player chosen at random instead.” “Whenever a player casts a spell, if that spell has no target, Khert Fire deals 2 damage to that player.” It doesn’t really need vanishing. If there are any rules people out there, tell me if my wording is off.
Tumblr media
@tmstage — Cage the Traveler
This probably should be a rare for how niche the hate is, like Blood Moon, but the ability certainly feels mythic. I like this card a lot. I’ve never played destiny, but this card gives me stakes. There’s a “traveler,” akin to a planeswalker, and there’s something sapping them of their power, a primary antagonist with a goal and a mysterious identity. Bam, established. Not a bad job.
~
Thank you all for your entries! New contest tomorrow.

One of my OC’s
I have a superhuman universe I’m creating. Baseline anyone who has the superhuman genetic can expect to be enhanced in every way. 10% of humans are superhuman, 99% of super humans have enhanced strength, speed, senses, and so on. All superhuman can see a greater spectrum of colors and hear a greater range of sound. The sensitivity varies depending on the hero. 80% of super humans are simply just enhanced, 5 percent of heroes have some kind of extreme strength, speed, or sense that is more than enhanced, 5 percent have baseline enhancement and some kind of superpower on top of that, 5 percent have more than one power on top of powers, 3% are curated via amplifier powers or other sources, 1% has been enhanced by an outside source on top of there powers, and 1% are super-humans without enhancement and only other powers.
This world is more realistic in a hero sense. Superheroes are hired by associations, governments, and so on so forth. They range in careers from sports, entertainment, and military work for minimally enhanced peoples to superheroes, idols, and even political leaders. There are generally 2 classes of legal superhero work: Agency Supers and Vigilantes. Superheroes are almost exclusively the worlds celebrities while there are a few acceptations. A great percentage of heroes do not do actual active super heroic work and focus on only public entertainment and superhero and super villain fights are VERY often scripted. Superheroes have high collateral damage and the worlds percentage of actual heroes is small. Vigilantes are generally no better because they also are selfishly motivated. There of course are a small percentage of heroes that are truly good but of course they generally have very little social reach. Many good heroes get wrapped up in the glow and glimmer and are taken advantage of by larger more sinister heroes.
“Villains” also are just as controversial. There are 5 categories of villain: False, Labeled, “Bad guy”, Hive/Org, and Super Villain. False Villains are obviously more like actors than anything else. They live quiet lives and never show there face, many villains are also ex-heroes that got to old or too unpopular for the public. Labeled Villains are often vigilantes/heroes who have violent or not socially acceptable methods of hero work. They also can be people who rock the boat to much and don’t have a big enough following to prevent a media storm. The Bad Guy falls into mostly mercenaries, anti-heroes, minor villains, and so on. Hive/Org is simply put what you would class Hydra or the League of assassins. Finally super villains, they are the evilest/baddest of the bad. Generally only TRUE villains are categorized as super villains, but many a hero, public figure, and minor villain could become/is truly a Super Villain though not classified as it in this worlds system.
Side note on heroes. There are possibilities for Super Heroes that are not Super Human. I am still open to Tech only heroes and Alien/Inhuman species.
F I N A L L Y. Onto the oc. Valentine.
Name:
Born: Camilla Mariana McLaughlin
Post Christening: Camilla Joan Mariana McLaughlin
Post Confirmation: Camilla Valentine Joan Mariana McLaughlin
Post Adoption: Camilla Valentine Joan Mariana Mortimer
Preferred Name: Valentine but often goes by Camilla
Secret Identity: Saint Valentine
Other Basics:
Ethnicity: Half Puerto Rican Half Irish
Religion: Confused Practicing Catholic
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Lesbian leaning Asexual/Demisexual
DOB: February 8th, 1999
Hero Status: Vigilante but publicly seen mostly as a superhero
Power Stats: 1-10 for base stats 3 is the average person, 5 is the average low level hero, 8 super , 10 insane super, 10+ superman/goku
Warning: She is a good example of what would be a midrange superhero in range of basic enhancements. Her additional power is what makes her a possibly top tier hero.
Speed: 6: Shes could catch up with a speeding car and possibly dodge a bullet
Strength: 8: She has cybernetics on top of super strength as well as constant strength training so she definitely has a super in this category
Stamina: 7: She’s got some good runtime on her verging on SUPER but not quiet.
Durability: 8: Part desensitivity to pain (and pleasure sadly) but also part strength and stubbornness mixed with impressive standing.
Senses: 6: While normally I would rank her at a 9 her enhanced senses cause enough disadvantage to loose points. Her senses were further strengthened after an encounter with an Amplifier hero, the effects happened later in life so shes not use to them and due to her being less than normal neurologically there can be struggle with this enhancement. She gets splitting headaches from her enhanced sense of hearing and because she has ADHD its horribly hard to focus. The same goes for sense of smell and taste. Sight and touch she reacts to differently. Her enhanced sight allows her to better pattern match and is her least problematic enhanced sense but can still be distracting. Touch is up and down for her, she has some nerve damage shes had since birth that cause her to feel pain and pleasure far less, but she can still feel. She tends to be driven mad my certain textures and feelings causing her to nearly throw out her entire wardrobe/linen collection. She has to wear higher quality clothes and use less “problematic” textures as substitute. Shes so sensitive she can tell a thread count by simply laying her finger on a sheet. Since she cant experience pain shes lucky this touch sensitivity doesn't cause her pain but it has caused her to hurt herself to cope with things like an itch or uncomfortable fabric on her skin.
Healing: 5.5: She heals far better than the average person but she does not have a healing factor really.
Now we move onto her other power/advantages these will be only explained via writing not rating.
Power: Mind Control aka The Devils Tongue: Valentine has the ability to control the thoughts and actions of as many people as she wants in a range of a semi circle in front of her, the people will feel as if they did/thought what they thought on there own volition/freewill. The effected must hear what shes saying and  the radius is 15 ft from the source of sound. She must verbally command the use of her power and It can transfer over digitization and the radius comes from the point of sound. If she were speaking over the radio she could in fact cause mass chaos for 15 feet from around the source of sound. She has to focus if she wants the command to be specifically for one person instead of many (Easier to command a crowd than a single person). Her eyes glow golden when her powers are in use and get stronger with practice. The less she uses the power the worst she gets at it and the physical, mental, and emotional strain of the power can be overwhelming. Her use of this power is virtually non existent in comparison to most super humans when it comes to there gifts. She fears this power almost as much as she fears god. She understands that power corrupts and understands that as a mortal person such a power could easily get to ones head. So the emotional pain from using the power is its greatest setback minus the migraines she gets from not using it often.
Advantage: Genius intellect: Valentine is very smart and has a brain hardwired for pattern matching and mathematics. She can be overwhelmingly intelligent but there is a downside to parts of her intelligence. Her most genius moments come when shes in a hyper fixated state of existence. She has ADHD that can manifest in various ways.
Advantage: Innocent Charm/Charisma: She is rather innocent in some sense of the word. Though she is aware of the violent nature of her life, home, and the world her daydreaming nature and equally as innocent hyperactivity childish sides are a wonderful benefactor in her work. On top of the fact that she is generally a wholesome and kind individual she seems to exude positive energy.
Possible Advantage and Disadvantage: Pain Tolerance: She has an exceptionally high pain tolerance due to the fact that she has some nerve damage that she cannot trace to an accident so she assumes is from birth. She has an exceptionally high pain tolerance but she also feels less physical pleasure because of her desensitivity. She still has an enhanced sense of touch but occasionally the physical damage that heat, cold, and other physical pain doesn't effect her neurologically, but the lack of danger signals to the brain can be acceptionally dangerous so she has to be careful.
Ill include more about her/the universe in another post.

Tips for beating the new game mode on Expert difficulty?
let’s see
play it a whole bunch in that difficulty. spawns are different on each difficulty and between story/all heroes mode, and the waves are the same for each section but they come at different times. so just be prepared. and pray to rng for good spawns
it’s expert so you don’t have to be god tier at whichever hero you pick, but you should still be good at them. pick one you’re good at. they all have different roles. mccree and genji are harder than reaper and moira.
whichever hero you pick, remember to do their job. in the higher difficulties moira needs to be throwing out heal orbs and healing often, reaper should be getting pretty close to most enemies to do dmg to them, mccree should be landing mostly headshots (if your accuracy dips below 50% that’s when i’d consider switching heroes) and flashing enforcers/assassins, genji should be killing snipers and also not dying. please stop dying as genji
if you’re playing mccree don’t be fucking stupid, reaper has wraith, moira has fade/heal orb, genji has deflect/dash. you have a shitty roll. but you also have better range than reaper. you don’t need to be at the very front. shoot from behind your reaper/genji.
reaper and genji can do the most tanking due to their respective kits and reaper’s 250hp. reaper should be leading the way in engagements.
moira should be focused on healing. use that heal orb a LOT; your bio spray stores WILL get low. heal orb is good for keeping everyone alive while you do some dmg to replenish bio spray. and don’t fucking throw it at the ground unless you’re in an enclosed space, it’ll just bounce up and away. moira does insane healing and dmg for a healer who doesn’t have to fucking aim (i’m not salty about ana), so don’t underestimate the impact you can have. don’t be afraid to pop coalescence when you’re/your team’s low and you have no heals/heal orb. you’re the only support after all.
remember to actually use your abilities. it’s ok to save ults for specific situations (you can figure out when yourself) bc some of them are more useful in specific waves than the others. but mccree’s flash is a must against assassins, genji’s deflect helps a lot against heavy, etc.
DO DAMAGE. SHOOT THINGS GOOD. they’re ai, it’s a lot easier to track them (yes, i’m telling you to track them instead of flicking because you need 0 flick ability to kill pve ai) than regular players. aim for the neck/head as reaper at close range or if above, bodyshots at midrange. headshots as genji and mccree. the general half of the screen the enemy is standing, as moira. idk about the others bc i mostly played mccree, but you should have your ult every 45s or so as mccree and probably not too far from that as the others. i don’t mean you should use your ult that often, that basically means that if there are enemies on screen, you should be consistently taking them out. and yeah i’ll be real you CAN finish expert pve with 3 people but there’s less margin for error than in hard/normal. but if you like a challenge, 3-player expert pve is the real hard mode
you can skip the entire art gallery if you can get everyone through the doors into the restaurant courtyard. if you go fast enough, the doors close and the assassin can’t follow. there’s some other minor skips but this is easily the most useful one.
punch the assassin to get her off of a teammate, but your mccree should be flashing anyway
deflect kills for the sniper is safest way to kill her, mccree might be able to land some long-midrange dinks but don’t  depend on him, his gun has shit falloff. just make sure your other teammates aren’t peeking and pulling her aggro when you’re deflecting and you’re good
heavy is probably the hardest challenge overall, you can kite around buildings and there are different ways to handle him that i’m not gonna get into but find what works for you. circling around a building is how my team and i did it last night (again, safest route) but you don’t have to do it that way. just remember he has a reload (take the time to put in some dmg) but he will tear through you when he’s not reloading. moira should be focusing on healing, genji should be landing deflect dmg when it’s off cd
if you’re playing with a group, make sure everyone is on comfortable roles. pve is fun with friends until you’re repeating the mission for the 20th time. and that’s why i stopped group queueing mvm!
get on the fucking drop ship

DeMar DeRozan hit ridiculous buzzer-beaters on consecutive days to set a new NBA mark
Tumblr media
DeMar DeRozan stamped his career year with a pair of amazing buzzer-beaters on consecutive days for the Bulls.
The Chicago Bulls were universally panned when they signed DeMar DeRozan to a three-year, $85 million contract over the offseason and traded Thaddeus Young and a protected future first round draft pick to the San Antonio Spurs to complete the deal. The common thought was that Chicago massively overpaid the 32-year-old DeRozan, and that his addition didn’t improve the Bulls to much beyond a play-in team in the Eastern Conference.
DeRozan has completely flipped that narrative on its head almost halfway through the season. He’s turning in the best year of his career and he’s moved the Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference. At this point, it’s fair to wonder if DeRozan — the 42nd highest-paid player in the league — is actually on one of the most team-friendly deals in the league.
DeRozan is playing like a legitimate MVP candidate through the start of his debut season in Chicago. He’s averaging nearly 27 points per game thanks to his deadly midrange shooting and consistent ability to get to the free throw line. DeRozan has also been an assassin in close games all season, leading the NBA in points per game in the fourth quarter.
As the calendar flipped to 2022, DeRozan stamped his astonishing year with ridiculous back-to-back game-winning buzzer-beaters to stun the Washington Wizards and the Indiana Pacers. No player in NBA history has ever done that before.
On New Years Day against the Wizards, the Bulls inbounded the ball to DeRozan down one with about three seconds left. He caught the ball and drove it to the corner, where he pump-faked and then drilled an impossible three-pointer to give Chicago the win.
DEROZAN DOES IT AGAIN pic.twitter.com/XEmIQhSolh
— NBA TV (@NBATV) January 2, 2022
DeRozan finished with 28 points, nine rebounds, and five assists on 10-of-22 shooting in the win. This would be one of the year’s best buzzer-beaters even without the added context that DeRozan made an equally amazing buzzer-beater against the Indiana Pacers one night earlier.
On New Years Eve, DeRozan bailed out a busted final possession by ripping a one-footed three-pointer to give the Bulls the win.

DeRozan had 28 points and six assists in the win over Indiana.
DeRozan is the first player in NBA history to hit buzzer-beaters on consecutive days
DeMar DeRozan is the first player in NBA history to hit a game-winning buzzer-beater in back-to-back days!
— Basketball Reference (@bball_ref) January 2, 2022
The man has been so clutch late in games all year, and now he has the signature moments to prove it.
DeRozan and Zach LaVine have become one of the most dangerous duos in basketball. DeRozan’s steady hand and cool demeanor in crunch-time has taken a huge burden off LaVine’s plate. Meanwhile, LaVine’s three-point shooting and rim pressure is a perfect complement to DeRozan’s midrange artistry.
This is truly becoming a special season for DeRozan and the Bulls. This is a team that had the worst record in the NBA over the last four seasons entering this year. If the playoffs started today, the Bulls would be the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. None of this would be possible without DeRozan proving just about everyone wrong.

A Veteran Cast & Skilled Direction Lift Midrange Actioner
A veteran Hollywood cast and skilled direction take a convoluted B-movie plot to higher ground. The Protégé puts a brutalized orphan girl under the tutelage of a wily assassin. He becomes a father, friend, and mentor. Who teaches her to go for the jugular like a stalking tiger. The film is loaded with punishing action scenes, but succumbs to periodic silliness with nonsensical flirtations and…

PowerColor Red Devil RX 6600 XT: Review | Hashrate | Specs | Ethereum
Tumblr media
PowerColor Red Devil RX 6600 XT: Review 2021 | Hashrate | Specs | Ethereum - The AMD RX 6600 XT is a video card of the intermediate segment, focused on gamers seeking a board with performance to face FullHD at full quality and high frame rate. After scaling the RDNA 2 architecture for a market focused on 1440p, it's time for owners of 1080p monitors to be given an option to replace midrange cards that are no longer up to the task, such as the still very popular GTX 1060. The AMD did not work with reference design in this product, and we only have models partner with this chip. In this review we will use the PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 6600 XT , a very robust design based on this Radeon chip and with a powerful power and cooling system, as well as an imposing look, typical of the Red Devil line. Radeon RX 6600 XT  GPU  graphics cards were announced with a suggested retail price starting at $379 , putting it $50 more expensive than GeForce RTX 3060 12GB and also representing a $100 increase over its predecessor Radeon RX 5600 XT . As we have warned, this is the reference prices of AMD and Nvidia, which have rarely come to reality due to the global economic context. Despite the official price of $329, the cheapest RTX 3060 we found was in the $699 range on Newegg, giving an example of how completely decoupled from reality are the values suggested by GPU manufacturers. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSSexMWLmEm/embed/ IMPORTANT NOTICE: with the current market making any price comparison impossible, we are left without minimum references to recommend or not a product. Because of this, we will no longer distribute seals and recommendations for analyzed products until the situation normalizes, since cost is a fundamental guide in our interpretation of a product.  RDNA2 The RDNA2 arrives with important leaps in performance and efficiency compared to the previous generation. AMD claims that the new RDNA2-based chips can deliver a performance jump with twice the performance, and an efficiency jump with up to 54% more performance per watt consumed. AMD's new microarchitecture is still based on the same 7-nanometer lithograph used in first-generation RDNA, for example. Gains were achieved through manufacturing optimization. The result is up to 50% less energy consumption to operate at the same frequencies as the RDNA 1, or at the same consumption level to increase the operating frequency by 30%. These gains were the result of a series of optimizations, such as increased refinement in frequency variations, higher operating clocks, pipeline redesign, better geometry distribution and tessellation. However, without a doubt, one of the technology that brings the most profound changes is Infinity Cache. With the increasingly heavy duty cycles, AMD took a different approach from the faster GDDR6X memories and larger interface of the GeForce RTX 30. Bringing the expertise of the processor area with the chipsets, AMD introduced 128MB of memory acting as a cache of level 3. Bringing a concept similar to the Infinity Fabric, present in Ryzen, this technology was named Infinity Cache. This new technology is also partly responsible for the greater energy efficiency of RDNA2, while also reducing latency by 34%, on average, compared to first-generation RDNA. Another important new feature is the introduction of dedicated hardware to speed up the Ray Tracing process . For this, AMD implemented one "Ray Accelerator" per computational unit, delivering up to 10x more performance than the software implementation. These units have the objective of calculating the intersections of the tracing of light rays, a process that is completed by the traditional shaders of the computational units. This enables effects such as realistic reflections and dynamic global lighting, with more realistic shadows and lighting. In addition to Ray Tracing, RDNA2 support features such as Variable Rate Shadding , which makes it possible to devote less processing power to parts of the image; the introduction of Mesh Shaders , a much more efficient implementation of the use of shader resources; and Sampler Feedback , which uses data from the previous frame to more efficiently determine how textures will load. All these features together are essential for better use of hardware and to enable better graphics, with a good level of performance. The RX 6600 XT The RX 6700 XT is based on the Navi 23, which brings technologies and features similar to those present in the RX 6900 XT and RX 6800 XT models, but scaled down. This board brings a total of 32 computing units, far from the 80 present on the top of the line RX 6900 XT, and just below the 40 present on the RX 6700 XT. As a result, other structures were also reduced. The amount of Infinity Cache was reduced to 32MB, while Ray Acelerators, specialized in accelerating processes related to Ray Tracing, are also reduced to 32, because in RDNA 2 microarchitecture we always have one Ray Acelerator per Compute Unit. In computational units this chip is below the Compute Units count of the RX 5700 XT (40) and RX 5600 XT (36). But in contrast the evolutions of RDNA 2 compared to the first generation brings its advantages, an example is the clocks. The RX 6600 XT boosts up to 2589MHz much higher than the respective 1905MHz and 1560MHz of the RX 5700 XT and RX 5600 XT. Consumption has also scaled down, with the board operating with just an eight-pin connector and with an estimated total consumption of 160W. The memories suffered advances and setbacks compared to the one used in the predecessor RX 5600 XT, with the memory increased from 6 to 8GB GDDR6, but the memory interface was reduced from 192-bit to 128-bit, with memory bandwidth falling from 288 GB/s to 256GB/s, all this comparing how it was on the RX 5600 XT to how it was on the RX 6600 XT. Overclock We use AMD Radeon Software to overclock, setting the base clock at 2500MHz and the turbo at 2700MHz. It wasn't possible to raise her standard clocks that much, but otherwise the clocks are quite high. This made it possible to run the tests with stability and complete the full battery. The memories went up from 16GHz to 16.6GHz, the limit to keep the system stable. NOTE: Overclock at your own risk. Overclocking may result in loss of warranty. Energy consumption We started with power consumption tests with all the boards compared. All tests were done with the same system, which gives an exact idea of what each VGA consumes. It is worth noting that the value is the total consumption of the machine and not just the video card, which gives an idea of how much a complete system consumes. Comparisons with tests from other sites can yield very different results due to changes in the systems used. The tests consist of the minimum consumption of the system, when it is in idle mode after the maximum load test, in this case running 3DMark through Fire Strike Ultra mode. https://benchmarks.com.br/graficos/v/15033?iframeid=15033 https://benchmarks.com.br/graficos/v/15034?iframeid=15034 NOTE: In the test running the 3DMark application, we considered 5 to 10W as a margin of error, due to the variation that happens when testing the same card. Temperature Another very important test when we talk about video cards, the chip temperature. Tests consist of either the system in idle mode or in continuous use. It is important to note that some cards have a system that turns off the fans when the GPU is not being required, such as when performing simple Windows tasks or even simpler games. Therefore, there are temperatures considerably higher than some models in this situation, but in practice they do not compromise the board. According to the manufacturers, this feature increases the lifespan and consumes less energy. Therefore, there can be large differences in the idle mode temperature, which does not characterize a bad card if the temperature is high. Why did the board get a lower temperature when overclocked?This is a normal situation on current boards. The rotation of the FANs is faster and consequently they make the GPU cool down faster, in some cases with a lower temperature than in the normal situation. Why does the reference system cooler board have a lower idle temperature than a theoretically better cooler board?Because current video cards with newer cooler designs tend to turn off the FANs when the temperature drops below numbers like 40, 45 or even 50 degrees, so when the FANs are turned off the tendency is for the GPU not to lower the temperature any more than than the limit that turns off the FANs. First let's test the cards with the system in idle mode: https://benchmarks.com.br/graficos/v/15035?iframeid=15035 For the in-use board test, we measured the peak temperature during the Ultra mode tests. https://benchmarks.com.br/graficos/v/15036?iframeid=15036 NOTE: Temperatures can vary greatly depending on the region of the country, system where the board is installed and test used. Below are some photos of the plate with a Flir thermal camera, showing the temperature in some parts of the plate body: Applications With the increase in applications that take advantage of the processing power of GPUs, we've updated our test battery with some of the most important software on the market. Despite his small stature and rude behavior, it is shown that Iggy possesses the Stand "The Fool", which enables him to control sand. Joseph is also informed of Holly's situation, learning that she only has a couple of weeks left. Shortly after resuming their journey, Jotaro's group discover the Speedwagon Foundation's helicopter has crashed. Upon examining one of the representatives, they discover he has somehow drowned while the other has been completely dehydrated. The group attempts to give the man some water from a canister, only for a water-based Stand to emerge from it and kill him. The group attempts to hide from the Stand, only for it to travel through the sand and surprise them, injuring Kakyoin's eyes. The Stand, which is being controlled from afar by a blind man named N'Doul, becomes briefly curious about Iggy when he suspects the dog can sense his attacks, but returns his focus on the rest of the group by dragging the car they are sitting on down into the sand to kill them.
Hunter x Hunter: The Chimera Ant Arc EP#84 - A × Fated × Awakening: As Gon, Killua and Kite approach the nest, one of the Chimera Ant Royal Guards, Neferpitou, awakens. Upon extracting information from Pokkle, Neferpitou learns the secrets of Nen, including the means to awaken and control it.

Believing that Meow is merely sick, Dandy and QT admit him to a hospital and leave him there overnight. Dandy and QT visit the hospital the next day, only to find it overrun by zombies. As Dandy and QT try to escape the hospital, they both end up being bitten and turned into zombies as well. From then on, Dandy, QT and Meow adjust to their new lives as zombies. They diet on yogurt instead of raw meat as advised by the Stiltonian, and they use Dandy's life insurance policy to maintain their less-than-normal lifestyle. After life insurance companies fail to control the zombie population, every human, alien and robot in the universe eventually become a zombie, thereby creating a utopia.
Outlaw Star EP#22 - Gravity Jailbreak: Gene, taking his position as a prisoner, meets Saiyo Wong, who has the coordinates for the Galactic Leyline. They escape and the man gives Gene a device which he says contains the coordinates. Professor Khan wakes Melfina up, and Gene then kicks Khan off the ship.
Cowboy Bebop EP#20 - Pierrot le Fou: Spike is targeted by an insane, seemingly indestructible assassin named Mad Pierrot after accidentally witnessing the killer in action.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG EP#14 (40) - DI: Beware the Left Eye – POKER FACE: Representatives from the American Empire have arrived in Japan to discuss a new security treaty, and Section 9 plays a part in securing the building where the talks are taking place. In their downtime, members of the different security teams are in the midst of a poker game, but so far Saito has won every hand. Intrigued by this, the Tachikomas assigned to the security truck shift their discussion from the reason for the new security treaty to the reason that Saito is consistently winning at a game of chance. For a raise in the game, Saito offers to share the story of how he acquired his poker face and why it's helping him win. In 2020, the American Empire invaded Central America in an effort to stop the drug trade. Tired of Japan's lack of involvement in the war, Saito decided to hire himself out as a mercenary, and was picked up by a group fighting to keep Mexico's provisional government in place. One day Saito caught wind of a Special Forces team, which happens to be a force of UN Peacekeepers, with a tactical nuclear weapon that would be passing through the destroyed remains of (Monterrey), where Saito was stationed. Saito decided to engage the group, and managed to kill a total of three people before the spec ops team determined his location. Headed by Kusanagi, the remaining members of the team stormed the hospital Saito was camped out in, but not before he managed to kill two more men. Outnumbered and cornered, Saito believed that Kusanagi would likely kill him in a one-on-one shootout, but believed that she lacked the necessary software to snipe him at medium range. Saito tried to engage Kusanagi before she could download the midrange sniping software, only for her to disable him by shooting out his left eye. Kusanagi explained that she already had the software, and had intentionally acted as though she didn't to lure Saito out and neutralize him. Impressed with his ability, Kusanagi took Saito with her, which was how he ended up working for Section 9. As the episode comes to a close, the possibility arises that the story which Saito just told was completely fabricated, perhaps using the plot of an old movie (the episode's plot closely resembles the final act of Full Metal Jacket), but when Saito wins the next round as well, the Tachikomas wonder if he may have been telling the truth after all.

Core Set 2021 Set Review - Others
Tumblr media
Pick: 2-4 Shortcut: B Alpine Houndmaster has a strong ability in a strong archetype. If you pick one of these up early, take the dogs pretty aggressively since they are fine cards anyway that get a huge boost by being fetchable.
Tumblr media
Pick: 1-3 Shortcut: B Conclave Mentor on turn two has the potential to snowball wildly with many playable creatures naturally adding +1/+1 counters on curve. Your opponent will never be able to keep up with the size of creatures that you can create. This is just a major threat that your opponent has to remove immediately or risk getting really destroyed by Feat of Resistance
Tumblr media
Pick: 9+ Shortcut: D Niambi's ability is fine, but it's nothing that draws me into the colors. You can discard Shrines to draw extra cards, but that will come up so rarely that the bonus is minor. If you are already in these colors, you can snap this up, but I wouldn't take this early at all.
Tumblr media
Pick: 3-5 Shortcut: C+ Watcher of the Spheres can lead to some scary curve outs. If you are able to cast two creatures on turn three, you are suddenly attacking for four damage and getting a huge cheat on your mana. I see these are premium Blue/White creatures and would take them highly if I am even remotely in a position to end up in the colors.
Tumblr media
Pick: 7-8 Shortcut: C- I'm not thrilled about Dire Fleet Warmonger. There isn't that much that you would happily sacrifice in M21. The Black/Red archetype plays out more like a generic midrange deck than a synergistic sacrifice deck. This can hit hard unexpectedly, but I would still rather pick these up after I already know I am in Black/Red.
Tumblr media
Pick: 3-5 Shortcut: C+ Indulging Patrician can deal a lot of damage if augmented with any +1/+1 counters or power boosting cards. The Black/White deck in the format plays out as most White aggressive decks do. You want to curve out and kill your opponents quickly. Luckily, a lot of the best White aggro cards also work wonderfully with this card. This holds counters very well and the evasion can get dangerous quickly.
Tumblr media
Pick: 3-5 Shortcut: C+ Lorescale Coatl gets big very quickly. It isn't the best to draw or cast later in the game, but on curve it can be a massive threat with the help of additional draw spells. A common one-two punch is this with Rousing Read to avoid chump blockers and provide a quick boost in size.
Tumblr media
Pick: 3-5 Shortcut: C+ Obsessive Stitcher lies at the heat of the Blue/Black reanimation deck. Obsessive Stitcher does the whole discard and reanimation package all in one. Even just looting after the early game can be valuable for discarding extra lands. Remember that this can reanimate something at Instant speed, meaning that attacking into open mana and this card can be awkward.
Tumblr media
Pick: 1 Shortcut: A Radha, Heart of Keld is huge and draws cards. What's not to love? This is a big incentive to dive into Red/Green.
Tumblr media
Pick: 2-4 Shortcut: B Leafkin Avenger has a reasonable body and ensures that you can win any stalled game given time. Sometimes dorky Green decks can run into issues with board stalls when there are just too many creatures on the field to make reasonable attacks because of multi-blocking. This card solves all that by giving this archetype something to play towards when your big creatures are on blocking duty.
Tumblr media
Pick: 2-4 Shortcut: B Black/Green is a deck that needs a decent amount of card quality to be good. Black usually wants to control the game and Green is much better at curving out and beating down. You need some big incentive to get into these colors and Twinblade Assassins is a pretty good one. You can kill your opponents creatures with removal on your turn and still draw cards. It's a little awkward that you can't block and draw, but there are enough ways to draw with this that it is a big threat for the opponent.
Tumblr media
Pick: 1-3 Shortcut: B Experimental Overload has a large impact on the game at its best moments. Being able to create a reasonable creature that also buys back your best spell is backbreaking. The real kicker with this card is that even at its worst the card is not embarassing. If you are force to make a 1/1 on turn four and buy back even just a cantrip, that's not the end of the world.
Tumblr media
Pick: The Actual Dream Shortcut: F JustLolaman and M0bieus promised me 10 gift subs each if I had six shrines on the battlefield so I'll probably be drafting all of these.
Tumblr media
Pick: 12+ Shortcut: D If Prismite makes your deck, something went very wrong in the draft. If you desperately need two drops, this can trade off early, but almost any other two drop would be better. Dual lands are much better for fixing than this. I guess since no one else wants this card either, it's a little reassuring to know in your darkness moments, Prismite will be there for you.
Tumblr media
Pick: 5-8 Shortcut: C Palladium Myr is almost a secret Blue card. Both Blue and Green are pretty mana hungry in M21, but Green has access to Llanowar Visionary and would probably run infinite copies of that over this. Blue has some nice expensive spells to ramp into and could really use the extra mana to multi spell with card drawing. This card is powerful, but I wouldn't see its colorless mana cost and think it slots into every deck.
Tumblr media
Pick: 7+ Shortcut: C- Skyscanner is a good card that suffers a little from the nature of M21 as a draft format. Three mana for a 1/1, even if it draws a card, just isn't what you want to be doing on turn three versus a lot of the aggressive decks in the format. On the opposite side, the 1/1 body isn't super impactful versus Black based control decks that are reanimating large creatures or milling you out with Teferi's Tutelage.
Tumblr media
Pick: 9+ Shortcut: D Sparkhunter Masticore is very costly to cast. The creature itself is definitely above rate for a three drop, but not so much better to warrant costing a card from your hand. There are a number of Aura based removal and bounce spells in this set that can sneak around this Indestructible ability and even Grasp of Darkness at common. If you can turn the discard cost into something a little more beneficial, I am way more on board with this. For example if you have a very consistent reanimator deck and multiple Rise Again, I can see this as pretty decent.
Tumblr media
Pick: 12+ Shortcut: D If somehow you are short on playables, Forgotten Sentinel can fill your curve. The fact that this enters the battlefield tapped is a huge downside. Lacking the ability to block and trade for a turn can get you into a lot of trouble since the shape of the game changes quickly in the early turns. There is a minor "4 power matters" theme in Red and Green, but those colors have so many alternatives that I basically never want to pick this.
Tumblr media
Pick: 1-2 Shortcut: B Solemn Simulacrum fits into all but the most aggressive White decks in the format. It is pretty good at doing it all. It usually can threaten a trade on turn four while helping you cast larger creatures to stabilize or double spell in the future. Most White decks would rather have a four drop that pushes damage immediately, but I still consider this a strong early pick for the other archetypes.
Tumblr media
Pick: 4-6 Shortcut: C+ Chrome Replicator as a five mana 4/4 isn't the end of the world. Trigger this ability is much harder than you'd expect, even with a handful of multiples in your deck. You need to be conscious of this while playing when deciding to trade off creatures or not. The difference between triggering this and not is massive. I'd say if you have three or four redundant permanents in your deck, this is probably stronger than most mediocre common five drops.
Tumblr media
Pick: 9+ Shortcut: D Those who played Shadows Over Innistrad know that Epitaph Golem was a pretty nice part of that format for its ability to put cards on the bottom of your deck when you essentially had no cards left. The Golem served as a way to stack your deck with your best spells in the late game and was quite powerful. However, M21 is a different format and there just isn't the same amount of mill or even shuffle effects. I don't think this card is very good. The fastest way to churn through your library is probably Frantic Inventory and that seems like a very narrow dream. This might be pretty annoying if your opponent went all in on Teferi's Tutelage and also somehow have no removal. They actually won't be able to kill you since you can activate this ability on your Upkeep with zero cards in Library.
Tumblr media
Pick: Free Spells Are Broken Shortcut: F Don't use Tormod's Crypt to counter Rise Again and don't use it to trigger Prowess. I kinda hope I'm wrong and this actually has a place in the Prowess vs. Reanimator matchup.
Tumblr media
Pick: 9+ Shortcut: D I think Short Sword has a home as a replaceable card in some aggressive decks and especially the ones based around Prowess. Combat between the non-Green decks in M21 has felt like a lot of small creatures trading off, so being able to add +1/+1 might just be enough. I still would never prioritize this card, but it might be better than it looks.
Tumblr media
Pick: 9+ Shortcut: D Silent Dart will exist if you picked up zero ways to interact with your opponent's creatures. If you are just trying to use this as a thing to trade off with early creatures, just remember that any vanilla creature would probably do the trick as well. I'd only use Silent Dart if I felt like I needed an answer to some utility creatures or evasive ones.
Tumblr media
Pick: 1-2 Shortcut: B I like Mazemind Tome a lot. Even if you want to be beating down, you can find some spot to cast this in addition to another spell without throwing off your curve too much. My biggest tip while playing this card is to not be afraid of spending those page counters to Scry. It seems like a loss of value, but if you really want to draw something specific and don't have two excess mana, just Scry for it. For example, if you are looking for your third land drop, you can Scry end of turn and put a stop on your Upkeep to Scry again before you draw. Missing your third land drop is definitely not worth saving some page counters.
Tumblr media
Pick: 9+ Shortcut: D I don't think a serious deck wants Meteorite. There are much better ways to splash in the format and your three+ color decks would rather just have tap lands and Cultivate. Two damage is fine in this format, but attached to a five mana spell means that it will happen way too late to have any real impact in keeping you alive.
Tumblr media
Pick: How Else Am I Supposed to Splash my Shrines? Shortcut: F It might be easy to think of Chromatic Orrey as an infinite source of card advantage, but by the time you are able to cast this and activate it, how many turns in the game will there be left? Even in the most controlling of mirrors, it will be tough to find the time to play this and activate it in a meaningful way. Almost every other source of card advantage in the format is just a better alternative to this.
Tumblr media
Pick: 1 Shortcut: A Ugin the Spirit Dragon is at a pretty interesting spot in the format. Well, it would be if it wasn't still crazy busted. If you are playing a 15 land aggro deck, sure pass on this, but there are tools in the format to help you get to eight mana that you can draft around. When Ugin hits the board, it is almost automatically going to stabilize you because of the board wipe ability. There are various cards that affect Planeswalkers in this set, but that doesn't stop Ugin from being the best finisher in the set.
Tumblr media
Pick: 7-8 Shortcut: C- Animal Sanctuary has a pretty reasonable effect in some White decks. Between Commons and Uncommons, there are five Dogs and three Cats that I would be happy to play anyway. Birds sadly only have two uncommons, even though putting counters on flyers seems really appealing. Despite a handful of targets and a pretty good ability, I don't think you can underestimate the damage that lands like this do to your already shaky manabase. I think you will have to be able to activate this very consistently for it to be worth the mana risk. If a majority of your creatures are targets, go for it, otherwise pass this up. Since the requirements are pretty strict, I also wouldn't speculate on taking this very highly.
Tumblr media
Pick: 6+ Shortcut: C- Improving your manabase is an important part of drafting. If you can minimize the number of games that you lose just to not casting spells, you will find an important boost in your win percentage. Recent Magic sets have a surplus of 'fine' cards. It isn't hard to pull together a deck by the end of the draft that has an excess of playables where some of them are just thrown to the sideboard and never touched. If you find yourself looking at a tap land in your colors versus a mediocre playable, just take the tap land and know that you are likely to complete your deck anyway.

Tumblr media
Pick: 4-6 Shortcut: C+ Fixing is important to increase your consistency in casting spells. Fabled Passage has the added bonus of being able to fit into any multi-colored deck. I would take these pretty highly and be happy that I can boost my consistency a little in the draft.

Tumblr media
Pick: Shortcut: F This entire block of lands is just me spouting about how important color fixing is in limited, so it's natural that I think the opposite about Radiant Fountain. The number of games you will lose due to not having the right colors at the right time will be greater than the number of games that you win due to having two extra life.

Pick: 5-8 Shortcut: C Everything I said about the dual lands applies here, but Scrying for 1 is much more powerful than gaining 1 life. I would play these lands in a deck that shares even one color with the land. If these were mono colored lands with the Scry ability, I would play them if I had the color, so adding the second color is just a bonus.

If these were mono colored lands with the Scry ability, I would play them if I had the color, so adding the second color is just a bonus.

This land will never get anything done and if you put it in your deck, you will automatically lose. Kidding, but I thought copy pasting the same evaluation ten times would be too boring. Send me a PM on Discord saying "Wind-Scarred Crag is garbage" and I'll send you five random giveaway codes if you are the first one. Will remove this blurb after the first person messages me.
